Diwali with kids: creating patterns with coloured sand
With Diwali coming up, we wanted to write about the beautiful Rangoli art that can be done with coloured sand. All you will need is a chalk & coloured sand.
Diwali is a Hindu festival with lights held in the period of Oct to Nov & associated with Lakshmi, who is the goddess of prosperity.
First, draw a symmetrical pattern with white chalk on the ground outside.
In India, Rangoli is displayed before home entrance.
If you have a group of creative kids, get them involved and give each child a cup with coloured sand and instruct them where to sprinkle it to make a complete colourful picture. Once done, it will look gorgeous with all the bright colours. Happy Diwali!
